How to Have A Healthy Summer: What To Do and Avoid

Whether it’s summer or winter, humans have to adjust their lifestyles to survive healthily and comfortably. However, in summer, extra care is required due to the harshness of the weather. But this season also brings many joys and fun with it. You get the summer vacations, plan picnics and tours with family, enjoy barbeques, and party with your friends. The extra heat also helps you burn your fats and look much cooler.

But during all this, you should also keep your health in check. So in this article, I am going to tell you some things that you can do to make your summer more energetic and joyful.

Clothing

It is obvious that you can not wear jackets, hoodies, or wool trousers in summer. Most of us like to wear shorts and T-shirts in this blazing heat. I know, it feels extremely comfortable and lets the air pass through your body. However, it also allows the sun rays to fall directly onto your skin. Therefore, you have to choose your clothes wisely. You should always go in the clothes that completely cover your body. But those should be made up of light material.

Other than that, you should not choose the fit clothes but rather wear the loose ones. Like oversized t-shirts, wide trousers, large blouses, frocks, etc. Loose clothes allow the air to pass through your whole body and provide you with coolness. Furthermore, always go with the lighter colors as they reflect the heat from the sun away from your body and help to maintain your outside body temperature.

Be selective in your food

In this scorching heat, you should eat cold and light foods. Never eat fast foods or fried items. These items are extremely harmful to your health and also increase the hotness inside your body. Instead, you should go for fruits and vegetables. The best fruits for summer are papaya, mangoes, apricots, peaches, watermelons, melons, pomegranates, berries, etc. These fruits are rich in vitamins and fibers and are plentiful in summer. These provide a sufficient amount of energy and coolness to the human body to survive through the hot days.

Moreover, the most preferable vegetables in summer are spinach, cucumber, broccoli, coneflower, cabbage, tomatoes, cowpeas, etc. You can also make a salad using these and some other vegetables of your choice. These vegetables cool down your body from the inside and also help you in getting clear and healthy skin. Moreover, these vegetables have lower cholesterol and contain antioxidants that not only make your body healthy but also repair your damaged body cells.

Always stay hydrated

60 percent of the human body consists of water. It proves the significance of water for humans. A person is required to drink more than 3 to 4 liters of water or other liquid. However, the actual quantity depends on the body weight of the person. In summer, most of the water is lost due to sweating, so the human body needs more water in this season. If you are fed up with drinking too much water, then you can also try some fruit juices and milkshakes to stay hydrated. These drinks not only hydrate you but also provide you with extra nutrients and taste.

Protect yourself from the sun

The ultraviolet radiation that sunlight carries is very dangerous to human skin. It can lead to different skin infections or diseases, including skin cancer. So, every time you are going into the sun, you should always apply sunblock to the parts of your body that are uncovered. The sunblock contains some chemicals and minerals that can be easily absorbed into your skin and helps to reflect the harmful sun rays away from your skin cells. Additionally, you have to reapply it after every 90 minutes in sunlight as its effect gets weaker with time.

Moreover, you should also take an umbrella whenever you are going out. Umbrellas can cover a larger area and block the sunlight from falling onto your skin. You can also wear a hat and sunglasses for additional protection of your head and eyes. Hats are also useful in saving your hair from dust and other harmful elements.
